Le Jardin du Revium is a digital garden cultivated by me, C. K. Jensen. Here, you can find evergrowing and evergreen thoughts and musings. 🌱🌿🌲
What does the name 'le Jardin du Revium' mean?
Revium is a word of my own creation, coming from French 'Rêver,' meaning 'to dream,' and Latin suffix -ium, meaning 'a place where things happen.' Therefore, a Revium is a place where dreaming happens, or a place to dream. Then, le jardin is French for 'the garden.' 'Du' is a French word meaning 'of the' (and it is masculine, as opposed to the feminine de la).
And who are you, again?
I'm C. K. Jensen, a science-fiction and fantasy author. I host a podcast or two (Quid Prose Quo on any given podcast platform, and Jabbertalky on Patreon), and I love to connect with writers, readers, and pretty much anyone who says hi :) Feel free to drop a line anytime to ckjensenauthor@gmail.com.
How does a digital garden work?
Digital gardens are a cross between a notes app and a blog, falling somewhere in-between on that spectrum. I was introduced to this by my QPQ podcast cohost, D. C. Wynters, who runs his own digital garden at https://zdg1.vercel.app/. From there, I dove down an internet rabbit hole, reading all I could about it. From Maggie Appleton's essay "A Brief History & Ethos of the Digital Garden," I will be stealing a metaphor for how I tend my garden:
- #🌱seedling : rough and early ideas
- #🌿budding : cleaner, clarified work
- #🌳evergreen: work that is reasonably complete (though I will still revisit from time to time!)
